The UN Convention of the Rights of the Child, states that:

"...to each child irrespective of the childs' or his parents' race, colour, sex, religion, political or other opinion, national ethnic or social origin, we shall take all appropriate measures to ensure that the child is protected from all forms of discrimination or punishment."
